BEAUMONT — A wrong-way driver was suspected of causing a multiple-vehicle crash in Beaumont on Thursday, February 01 at about 5:50 p.m.
The driver, a 51 year old woman from San Jacinto, entered the SR-79 northbound in the southbound lanes colliding head on with a Chevy. The crash caused a chain reaction crash of another five vehicles.
The wrong way driver was transported by medical for minor injuries. One other man suffered minor injuries but was not transported for treatment.
The woman, who at the moment remains unidentified, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested by CHP.
As many as seven vehicles may have been involved, according to the CHP, which reported that the road was reopened about 8:20 p.m.
