Hemet: Domestic Dispute Leads to Officer Involved Shooting

hpdHEMET – On October 28, 2017 Just before 7:00 p.m., Hemet Police Officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 3500 block of West Florida Ave, in the parking lot of the Target shopping center.

When arriving on scene, officers contacted a subject who was brandishing a knife. When ordered to drop the weapon, the subject refused to comply and began approaching the officers aggressively.

An officer involved shooting then occurred when two hemet police officers opened fire, striking the man an unknown number of times.

The shopping center parking lot was busy at the time and a small crowd began to gather around the scene of the shooting when it occurred. No bystanders or officers were hurt during the incident.

The officers immediately began first aid until medical emergency personnel arrived at the scene. The wounded subject was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This is an active and ongoing investigation by Hemet Police Department and no other information is available at this time.
