VALLE VISTA (EAST HEMET) – On Sunday 10-08-2017 at about 12:07 a.m. a silver Dodge Durango SUV crashed into a school bus parked in the yard of a residential property in the 43400 block of Cedar Ave, near the intersection to Chicago Avenue.
According to officials, SUV traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the collision. The vehicle began to catch fire with the driver still trapped.
The school bus became fully involved when the fire spread to it’s interior. Firefighters from Cal Fire Riverside County and Soboba Fire extinguished the flames quickly but the driver was declared deceased at the scene by paramedics.
The victim of the fatal crash has been identified as 38-year-old Kristine Salyer, Hemet resident.
Salyer died Sunday, Oct. 8 in the fiery crash when the vehicle she was driving went airborne and crashed into the school bus parked on a residential property.
According to CHP officials, Sayler was driving northbound on Chicago Avenue and failed to stop at the intersection with Cedar Avenue. A dirt mound she hit caused her vehicle to go airborne and collide with the bus.
She was trapped when her vehicle caught fire with flames eventually spreading to the school bus, which was soon fully engulfed. The crash occurred just after 12:00 a.m.
