On Sunday, August 20, 2017 at approximately 1:40 p.m., Cal Fire together with Riverside County Fire responded to an injury traffic collision with fire in the 31800 block of Highway 74.
Arriving crews located a grey Honda sedan and a green Ford Ranger with heavy tc damage, the Ford was on it’s roof and fully involved. The driver of the Honda was traveling westbound in the number 1 lane when it rear ended the Ford Ranger that was pulling out of the nearby Valero Gas station onto the same lane of traffic.
The Ranger caught fire when the collision occurred and flipped over several times before landing on it’s roof. The driver of the pickup was declared deceased at the scene by paramedics.
The driver of the Honda was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. This is still an active and ongoing investigation and more information will be added as it becomes available.
